Pahalgam, Jun 22 (KNO): With the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra drawing near, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Monday conducted a comprehensive review of health facilities, infrastructure preparedness and essential services in Pahalgam to ensure smooth arrangements for the pilgrimage. During her visit, the minister assessed the readiness of various departments involved in facilitating the yatra, including the Health Department, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Public Health Engineering, Power Development Department and other allied agencies. She interacted with officials and reviewed the measures being taken to provide quality healthcare, uninterrupted essential services and adequate facilities for the thousands of pilgrims expected to visit the Valley during the pilgrimage season. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the review, Itoo, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that extensive preparations have already been put in place well ahead of the commencement of the yatra. “All necessary arrangements concerning healthcare services, food supplies and other essential facilities have already been made. We are continuously monitoring the preparations, and if any additional requirements arise, they will be addressed at the earliest to ensure that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience,” she said. The minister said the government is committed to ensuring a safe, comfortable and well-organised pilgrimage experience for devotees undertaking the sacred journey to the Amarnath cave shrine. Highlighting Kashmir’s long-standing tradition of hospitality, Itoo said that the people of the Valley have always welcomed visitors with warmth and affection and would continue to uphold that legacy during this year's yatra. “The people of Kashmir have always been known for their hospitality and generosity. We wholeheartedly welcome all pilgrims and visitors arriving for the Amarnath Yatra. Our people will continue to extend the same warmth and support that has been a hallmark of Kashmiri culture for generations,” she said. The minister also prayed for the safety, good health and successful completion of the pilgrimage by all devotees. She encouraged pilgrims to explore the natural beauty and cultural richness of Kashmir alongside their spiritual journey. The annual Amarnath Yatra is one of the most significant religious pilgrimages in the country, attracting thousands of devotees from different parts of India that is going to start on July 03 this year. The administration has intensified preparations across key transit points and base camps to ensure seamless coordination, enhanced medical care, security arrangements and essential services for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage—(KNO)
